Sign up for Mountaineer Quest, an outdoor-based orientation program designed exclusively for incoming College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (CPASS) students. This five-day summer program helps incoming first-year students make friends, explore area outdoor destinations and learn more about WVU and their major before the start of the fall semester. The program is co-hosted by Adventure WV and CPASS.
This camp-based, peer-led five-day program prepares incoming students for life at WVU and the state. Based at Camp Muffly, a few miles south of Morgantown, students will participate in adventure day trips around the region, including rock climbing, inflatable kayaking, whitewater rafting, hiking and service. Students will explore and reflect on their transition to college within small group discussions in the evenings.
Mountaineer Quest runs from July 3-7 and is limited to incoming CPASS students. Students make early connections and develop friends to carry them through the next four years. Additionally, participants meet upperclassmen trip leaders, faculty and staff and enter into their first semester at WVU with strong bonds and an understanding of opportunities within the college.
Mountaineer Quest costs only $95. Pell Grant eligible students participate in the program at no cost. The fee covers lodging, food, transportation and activities throughout the five day program.
This program is separate from on-campus New Student Orientation (NSO) and does not fulfill the NSO requirement.
There are limited spots available in this program. Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning February 6 at http://adventureorientation.wvu.edu/registration. Participants must be an admitted and deposited freshman to be eligible.
